The project is initiated by USAID Project ZRDA. The project considers to develop and launch regional level tourist guide short-term preparation & training certification course in Samegrelo, Kakheti, Shida Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions on the bases of partner vocational institutions. . In the frame of the project the needs assessment will be implemented, considering the results with the involvement of the sphere experts the course will be developed and supported to introduce them in the regional colleges later. In addition to this, it is planned to conduct the pilot course up to 80 participants in 4 regions. The international expert will be involved in developing the course.

Tourism as one of the increasing field of economy in Georgia bears the most important role. It is essential to use effectively Georgian cultural and natural heritage for tourism development. Despite the fact that the industry has been developing successfully in the recent years, it is possible to contemplate existing tourism potential, to identify better the unique local resources in the regions and to employ them effectively in order to develop tourism products.

Thus, regional level tourist guide preparation program aims at displaying and increasing region tourism potential by preparing local tourist guide focused at change and innovation. The course is oriented to support developing skills on site which ensure to create diverse tourism products full of unique regional characteristics.
